Before joining the RESTOR team, each therapist and trainer is required to understand the mechanics of sports and biological movement, so they can further assess and easily solve problems. RESTOR prides itself with a fully licensed staff.

John Horsley
John R. Horsely, PT
Owner/President

Graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy, from California State University, Long Beach in 1989, Horsley established RESTOR in 1990 with hopes of providing better care for patients requiring therapy assistance. His extensive athletic background and competitive nature contributes to his philosophy of rehabilitating individuals to their maximum potential. Horsley spends a great amount of time researching solutions to problems that have been resistant to other interventions. His proactive stance to physical therapy is a result of his problem solving approach to treating a cause rather than an effect.

As an adjunct professor for the department of physical therapy at Cal State Long Beach (1992 - 1996), he was involved in several speaking engagements at various colleges within and outside California. Horsley attends a gamut of academic courses to improve his knowledge and ability as a physical therapist. He serves as a therapist and consultant for several of the patients, actively reviewing cases on a weekly basis.

Horsley's diverse background and achievements include being a staff physical therapist for the 2002 USA Track and Field Championships, USA Diving Medical Team , USA Water Polo Medical Team, AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, and Newhope Gymnastics Academy. In 1997, he was the pole vault coach for Edison High School Track and Field, and strength and conditioning programmer for Hartnell Junior College Baseball. He has also co-hosted the KUCI 88.9 FM Body Talk Radio show and is currently consulting with the track and field athletes from the University of California, Irvine. His impressive client list reflects Horsley's perseverance as a therapist, manager and athlete.

Ellyn Silverman
Ellyn Silverman


Ellyn is the most recent addition to the Restor staff and embraces the new direction that Restor is headed. Not only is she a Registered Dietician, but she is also a licensed Physician Assistant. She specializes in treating patients with metabolic disorders and has extensive history and training in this area. She worked with John to develop Restor's constantly evolving nutrition program and is currently developing the same for children and adolescents.

She is a graduate of The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, got her masters in Public Health from the University of South Carolina and received her bachelor of science degree in nutrition science from Rutgers University-Douglas College. Ellyn is also the mother of two daughters Leah and Jena, dog Roxy and husband Robert. Her hobbies include competing in martial arts and needlepoint, is a member of the American Dietetic Association, Girl Scouts of America and the Salvation Army.

Erwin Roberto
Erwin Roberto, ATC, Athletic Trainer
Director of Sports Medicine

A graduate from Chapman University, Roberto has tremendous experience with the care and prevention of athletic injuries. Having worked in several fields of sport, such as football, basketball, softball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and track and field, he is fluent in organizing and heading up rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Roberto is also CPR and First Aid certified from the American Red Cross.

While being an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the Orange County Athletic Trainers' Society (OCATS), Roberto is a proactive participant in designing and conducting RESTOR's athletic training programs. His knowledge and hands-on ability is essential to the success of his rehabilitations.

Roberto enjoys snow skiing, roller blading and snow boarding. He is also the team historian for the clinic.

Beth Horsley-Gomez
Beth Horsley-Gomez, MS, PT

A physical therapy graduate from California State University, Long Beach, Gomez is a native Northern Californian with drive and ambition to improve treatment and rehabilitation. She has a vast, if not, a fluency of direct knowledge, having been in the fitness industry for the past nine years. Her experience with therapeutic exercise techniques and treatment of various challenging conditions allows her to demand high quality patient care.

Gomez attends several continuing education courses and is in the process of taking a year-long course to become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist. She enjoys teaching group exercise, is actively involved in various recreational sports, such as skiing and swimming, and lives with her husband Ron in Mission Viejo, CA.


Christina Brown
Christina Brown, PT

Christina Randal Brown grew up in the Salinas Valley along side her co-worker Beth Gomez. She participated in tennis, basketball, and track while attending Notre Dame High School. Upon graduating from high school she accepted a basketball scholarship to play for University of The Pacific in Stockton, California. There she completed her undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine. During her freshman Year she "blew out" her knee and it was then she was exposed to the world of physical Therapy. Christina returned after rehabilitation to lead her team to three consecutive Big West Championship finals as team captain. While attending UOP she met her husband Raymond Brown and after completing her masters in Physical Therapy at UOP she married her college "sweetheart." She relocated to her husband's "home town," Huntington Beach, where they currently reside with their two beautiful girls, Taylor and Keira, ages three and seven months. Presently, other than trying to have the best of two worlds,working and being mom and wife, Christina continues to enjoy an active lifestyle. She runs, surfs and occasionally picks up a basketball, but that's usually the four inch basketball her girls toss around the living room. She continues to take continuing education courses to further her knowledge in orthopedic related injuries.

Brianna Contreras
Brianna Contreras, DPT


Born and raised in Sacramento, CA. where Brianna completed high school, she attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. where she earned her Bachelor .s of Arts in Sports Medicine. She remained at UOP, completing her Master .s and Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her athletic background is in competing and coaching volleyball.

Brianna currently resides in Huntington Beach and when not working she enjoys working out, playing volleyball, riding her horse and competing in equestrian events and going to the beach with her dog Emmitt.

Jeff Parkan
Jeff Parkan, DPT, CSCS


Jeffrey Parkan is a fresh face in the field of physical therapy and new to southern California. In 2002 Jeff graduated from California State University, Chico with his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. During his time at CSU, Chico he spent time at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Maryland as a participant in a health research study and worked along with a PT in the fabrication of orthotics. He was accepted into The University of the Pacific to further his education from which he graduated in August of 2004 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Jeff also holds the certification of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S) and is interested in continuing his education in sports performance and rehabilitation techniques. In his off time he enjoys playing basketball, golfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding and traveling.

Adriana Segura
Adriana Segura, ATC


Adriana (AD) earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with emphasis in Athletic Training from Cal State Fullerton. She has a broad range of knowledge of sports In various levels. She gained much of her experience working with Fullerton's NCAA Div 1 Track & Field, Soccer, Softball and Baseball teams as an Athletic Training Student, and also worked with CSF's Basketball, Rugby, Gymnastics teams and Mt San Antonio's junior college football team.

As she maintained her spot on the Dean's list and her scholar-athlete status, Adriana Continued to be a huge contributor to her community as a Day Camp Director for the City of Downey Community Services Department and assisted in organizing city wide Special events. Upon graduating, completing CSUF's Athletic Training Education Program, and passing her certification exam in 2003, she worked as a part-time athletic Trainer for Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica.

In her spare time she enjoys crocheting beanies and scarves, camping, running and playing with her dog Zero. She hopes to pursue a masters degree sometime in the near Future and looks forward to a long and fulfilling career with Restor.
Joe Plisinski
Joe Plisinski, PT, OCS
Director, Irvine

Joe has been in the field of physical therapy since 1993 where he began his career as a physical therapist aide. After witnessing the awesome recoveries a physical therapist can facilitate, he chose physical therapy as his career and patients recovering to their highest level possible his mission.

He graduated with a BS in physical therapy from Indiana University in 1997. Since graduation, he continues his pursuit of excellence by attending several voluntary continuing education courses each year. He is a member of the APTA and is board certified as an orthopaedic specialist.

Joe particularly enjoys working with athletes and facilitating their return to competition. As a former baseball player, including one successful year at the collegiate level, he takes a special interest in the rehabilitation of the throwing  athlete. However, his diverse athletic interests and multitude of educational conferences make him ideally suited to facilitate your return to play  at all levels of the game.
