Our aquatic physical therapy program sets us apart from other physical therapy clinics and is used as an adjunct to traditional rehabilitation programs. We view the use of the pool as an efficient way to initiate early movement in therapy, thus facilitating the recovery process. The emphasis is that AQUATIC PHYSICAL THERAPY SPEEDS RECOVERY.

The therapeutic and physiologic effects of activity in water are numerous. Aquatic therapy allows movements to be achieved, which are often too difficult or painful to perform on land. For the elderly or chronic pain patient, exercises in water may be the only activity they can tolerate. Listed below are some of the benefits of exercising in water.
  • Buoyancy assists with early movement.
  • 3-dimensional resistance to help strengthen de-conditioned muscles.
  • Ease of body positioning by assisting in tone and spasticity inhibition.
  • Hydrostatic pressure of submersion increases venous return and is the best modality available for reducing swelling.
Aquatic physical therapy is shown to be effective in treating the following conditions:
Post-operative knee rehab Osteoarthritis
Fibromyalgia Rheumatoid arthritis
Osteoarthritis Lumbar spine surgeries
Acute sport and work related injuries Fractures
Total hip and knee replacements Sprains and strains
Frozen shoulders Gait dysfunctions
Fall prevention in the elderly Chronic fatigue syndrome
